THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE GOLD COIN OBVERSE DESIGN
The obverse displays paratroopers descending amid ground troops, representing the essential support provided by the 509th and 551st Parachute Infantry Battalions, whose bravery helped strengthen Allied defenses.
Inscriptions include “CHARLES III,” which is paired with a miniature device King Charles III's official portrait; “COOK ISLANDS” to denote the coin’s nation of issue; the coin’s gold weight and purity; the coin’s monetary denomination (Cook Island Dollars); "509TH & 551ST PARACHUTE INFANTRY;" and the start date of the Battle of the Bulge ("16 DEC 1944").
