Over the years, the United States Mint has designed and struck a variety of precious metal coins to commemorate certain people, places, and events. Speaker 1: 00:08 The First Spouse gold coin obverses feature portraits of the first spouses, their names, the order and years of their term as first spouse, the year of minting in God we trust and Liberty. Each coin has a unique reverse design featuring an image emblematic of that spouse's life and work as well as the inscriptions “United States of America”, “E pluribus Unum”, $10 half ounce and 0.9 900 900 900 fine gold. Congressional coins for the most part are minted in quarter rounds, which displays a $5 U S legal tender face value. To a lesser degree, congressional coins are minted in half ounces, displaying a $10 face value. Commemorative gold coins are certified as both mint state and proof the America. The beautiful coins are the largest silver coins ever produced by the U S mint, the America. The beautiful program is a multi year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites in each state, the district of Columbia and five U S territories, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, us Virgin islands, and the Northern Mariana islands.

Under this program. Five new reverse designs will appear each year, beginning in 2010 and through 2020 with one final coin in 2021. America the Beautiful Silver coins were authorized by Congress in 2008 with passage of America's beautiful national parks quarter dollar coin act. They are 0.9999 fine silver, have a diameter of three inches and weigh five ounces each. The 25th anniversary, five coin silver sets were designed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the silver American Eagle program. The reverse design of these coins was crafted by former United States mint sculptor engraver, John McCanty. Each coin bears the signature of Mr McCanty on each coin case.
